Jason`s work focuses on Taxation, Estate Planning, Business Planning, Real Estate, and Domestic Relations. In his Taxation practice he prepares income tax returns for corporations, individuals, partnerships, and tax-exempt organizations. He also represents clients in tax controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and State Departments of Revenue.
He has started numerous limited liability companies, corporations, and non-profit corporations on behalf of his clients. Jason has also handled reorganizations, amendments of Operating Agreements, licensing, regulatory matters and other issues on behalf of the businesses he represented.
In his estate planning practice Jason has drafted wills, inter vivos trusts (living trusts), durable powers of attorney, living wills, and irrevocable life insurance trusts for his clients. In addition to creating estate plans for traditional couples, Jason emphasizes in estate plans for same-sex couples and the particular legal issues that affect them. Jason has also administered estates and worked on probate disputes for small estates and estates worth up to one million dollars.
Jason has worked on a wide range of matters for clients regarding various real estate matters. He has negotiated several real estate transactions which involved commercial properties worth millions of dollars. He has also handled commercial landlord and tenant disputes, drafted leases, mortgages, and promissory notes.
Jason worked at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri in Saint Louis for five years. While at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri he worked on orders of protection, dissolutions of marriage, modifications of divorce decrees, and paternity actions. After graduating law school, Jason began his legal career doing litigation for one of Missouri's largest insurance defense firms. After working in litigation for a few years, he moved back to Kansas City where he obtained his LLM in Taxation from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law. He then worked for Polsinelli Shalton Flanigan & Suelthaus handling commercial real estate transactions prior to starting his own law firm. Jason joined Slough Connealy Irwin & Madden, LLC in January of 2010.
